Basic X-Ray with Medical Office Procedures »

Basic X-Ray with Medical Office Procedures

The Basic X-Ray with Medical Office Procedures program prepares you to become a professional who can seek employment in a wide range of healthcare facilities including diagnostic imaging centers, clinics and physician’s offices. Depending on where graduates find employment, typical duties may include:

  • Positioning patients for X-Rays and explaining procedures
  • Operation and maintenance of X-Ray equipment
  • Collecting samples from patients
  • Performing a variety of laboratory tests
  • Assisting in day-to-day patient care
  • Assisting with patient recordkeeping and office management

Basic X-Ray Technicians work primarily in diagnostic imaging centers, clinics and physician’s offices. Opportunities can also be found in some hospitals and other medical facilities.

Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions »

Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions

The Dental Assistant training program is a stimulating mix of classroom and laboratory training followed by a hands-on externship in a dental office with actual patients. With UMA's Dental Assistant program, in as few as 11 months* you can train to:

  • Prepare patients for treatment
  • Provide chairside assistance to dentists during procedures
  • Perform laboratory tasks
  • Assist in office management

Ultimate Medical Academy also offers a comprehensive Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions Health Sciences Associate degree. Associate degree graduates may have greater earning potential, immediately or over time, as well as potential increases in employment opportunities.**

Medical Assistant »

Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant program includes a mix of classroom training, hands-on lab experience and an externship in a real medical facility. In as few as 15 months*, you can train to:

  • Collect patient histories, maintain medical records and process insurance claims
  • Prepare patients for procedures and take vital signs       
  • Assist physicians during procedures, collect samples and run tests in the lab

Upon graduation, you'll be prepared to take the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) and Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exams and seek employment in the healthcare industry. As graduation nears, UMA will work to help you prepare for your exams and find the career opportunities that match your goals.

UMA also offers a comprehensive Medical Assistant Health Sciences Associate degree. Associate degree graduates may have greater earning potential, immediately or over time, as well as potential increases in employment opportunities. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects the fastest growing occupations with plentiful job openings often require workers with an associate degree**.

Medical Billing and Coding »

Medical Billing and Coding

The Medical Billing and Coding program can educate you about the healthcare claim cycle, how insurance reimbursement works and how to process claims with industry-standard software, all while building a plan for career success. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the Medical Records and Health Information Technicians field, which includes Medical Billing & Coding, is expected to grow 20% between 2010 and 2020, adding over 30,000 new jobs.1

In as few as 12 months*, train to:

  • Run the billing software that keeps doctors and hospitals in business
  • Process critical claims and medical records
  • Code medical and surgical procedures using proper terminology
  • Assist in the management of medical practices

Medical Billers and Coders are essential to making healthcare facilities run smoothly. As a Medical Billing and Coding professional, you could work in physicians' offices, hospitals, insurance companies and other healthcare facilities.

Looking for a more advanced education? UMA also offers a 17-month2 Associate of Science (AS) in Medical Billing and Coding. This program builds on the core courses of our Medical Billing and Coding diploma training program, adding further instruction in business and communication to round out the career-focused curriculum.

Medical/Clinical Lab Assistant »

Medical/Clinical Lab Assistant

The UMA Medical/Clinical Lab Assistant program can prepare you for entry-level employment in clinical laboratory settings. This focused, hands-on course can be completed in under a year*. At UMA, train to:

  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests
  • Collect samples from patients
  • Measure and dispense drugs
  • Assist with patient recordkeeping and office management

Looking for a more advanced education? Ultimate Medical Academy also offers a comprehensive Medical/Clinical Laboratory Assistant Associate program. Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) »

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

UMA offers an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) that can prepare you to practice professional nursing in as little as two years*. At UMA, nursing students train to:

  • Assess patients’ health and plan appropriate care
  • Make effective clinical decisions that ensure safe and accurate treatment
  • Implement prescribed regimens to help patients manage their health
  • Teach patients how to make informed health decisions
  • Communicate effectively with patients and other healthcare professionals
  • Work with other healthcare professionals to find the right solution for each patient
  • Provide care that protects patients’ dignity and honors cultural and religious needs
  • Demonstrate professional behavior in all aspects of nursing practice

Graduates of the Nursing program are eligible to apply to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), which is required to work in the field as a Registered Nurse.  In the weeks leading up to graduation, UMA provides examination preparation assistance and you can meet with Career Services to find potential job opportunities that meet your needs and goals. 

Nursing Assistant »

Nursing Assistant

Ultimate Medical Academy’s Nursing Assistant program can help you prepare for an entry-level career in the nursing assistant field Nursing Assistants are often the primary caregiver and can develop strong, caring bonds with their patients. As a result, physicians and nurses look to Nursing Assistants to monitor a patient’s physical and mental conditions and keep them informed of changes. In as few as 7 weeks*, you can experience:

  • Hands-on training that combines classroom and laboratory work
  • Training to care for patients (under guidance by a physician or registered nurse) in safe and positive ways
  • An opportunity to gain the practical experience with a clinical externship
  • Test preparation classes to help prepare you to sit for the CNA examination

Graduates receive a diploma and may apply to take the Certified Nursing Examination (CNA). UMA offers additional test preparation classes to help you be prepared. 

Patient Care Technician »

Patient Care Technician

The Patient Care Technician program helps to prepare you for entry-level employment in hospitals, nursing homes, physicians' offices and other healthcare facilities.  Patient Care Technicians work alongside doctors and nurses to provide day-to-day care that patients need. They are called upon to perform vital clinical, laboratory and office tasks to ensure the smooth operation of a healthcare facility. In less than a year at UMA, train to:

  • Assist patients with day-to-day activities
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and Collect and analyze samples
  • Administer drugs according to physicians’ instructions
  • Manage medical charts and electronic medical records

After completing classroom training and an externship with a local healthcare provider, you receive a diploma and are ready to pursue jobs at a variety of healthcare facilities. Graduates are eligible to sit for the State of Florida Certified Nursing Assistant examination and gain a credential that can make you more marketable to employers.

Pharmacy Technician »

Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician program helps prepare you to participate in a hands-on practicum that allows you to practice your training with actual customers and adds valuable work experience.

In as little as 11 months*, train to:

  • Fill prescription requests
  • Understand drug dosage and interaction
  • Maintain patient profiles
  • Process insurance claims
  • Assist the pharmacist

Your pharmacy technician training will also prepare you for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technician (ICPT) national certification exams, which can open the door to additional job opportunities and higher pay.

UMA aslo offers a Pharmacy Technician Health Sciences Associate program which can help educate you to become ready to pursue a career in the growing pharmaceutical industry in as few as 18 months*. Associate degree graduates may have greater earning potential, immediately or over time, as well as, potential increases in employment opportunities.**

Phlebotomy Technician»

Phlebotomy Technician

Ultimate Medical Academy’s Phlebotomy Technician program can prepare you for an entry-level position or add an important skillset to existing healthcare training. Phlebotomy Technicians specialize in drawing blood for analysis. The Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for making patients comfortable, addressing anxiety and safely collecting samples while causing patients minimal discomfort.

In as few as 12 weeks*, UMA can help you train to:

  • Work with standard phlebotomy equipment and draw blood
  • Follow safety procedures
  • Be prepared for a real-world clinical externship with actual patients

Graduates receive a diploma and can apply to take the American Medical Technologists phlebotomy certification examination. UMA offers additional test preparation classes to assist you in preparing for this examination. As the demand for healthcare grows, phlebotomy technicians become even more important to hospitals, doctors’ offices, clinics and laboratories.
